Anthony Gartrell
Bio
Anthony holds a PhD. in Structural Geology and a BSc. (Hons.) in Geology and Geophysics from the University of Western Australia. He has 20 years of experience as a petroleum geologist and is an expert in structural geology, sequence stratigraphy and Play Based Exploration. Anthony has developed innovative new techniques and integrated approaches that have brought new geological insights and plays to mature basins. He has published numerous journal articles in major publications throughout his career that have been widely used in both industry and research arenas. Currently he is also an Adjunct Senior Research Fellow at the University of Western Australia.
Experience
Anthony joined WMC Resources Petroleum Division as an Explorationist and Structural Geologist in 1995. After completing his PhD. in extensional tectonics he joined CSIRO Petroleum Division (2000) where his work investigated structural controls on subsurface fluid flow, with particular focus on the effects of fault reactivation on fault seal and trap integrity. He joined Shell working in Brunei (2007) and then Australia (2011) where he played a lead role in major regional and Play Based Exploration projects as Principal Regional Geologist. The results of this work has been recognised as best practice for contributions to new understanding of basin evolution, sequence stratigraphy, new play development, prospect identification and portfolio rejuvenation. During this time he has developed a deep knowledge of the regional geology and petroleum systems of Australia and SE Asia. The knowledge and approaches used and developed in these regions can be applied to other parts of the globe with equal success.

Ric Jason
Bio
Ric is a proven offshore commercial hydrocarbon finder having been directly involved in or worked on several significant discoveries in an extensive range of geological settings. He has significant global experience including north, east and west Africa, extensive regional work across the South East Asia as well as several other frontier areas including Europe, the Caspian region, the Caribbean and The Falklands. Ric has significant offshore deep water operating experience, particularly across the Northwest Shelf, Australia and the Atlantic margin. His most recent achievement involves his technical recommendations for FAR Ltd being adopted by a multinational operator resulting in two discoveries in offshore Senegal, with SNE-1 being largest global oil discovery for 2014. He was a principal seismic interpreter at Hardman for offshore Mauritania and French Guyana (Shell Zaedyus oil discovery 2011) and was part of the team when first oil was discovered in Uganda. He was part of a successful appraisal team at BHPBilliton working on the giant Scarborough Gas Field, which delivered highly accurate reservoir depth predictions as well as a full depositional architectural analysis. His technical work, which redefined the play fairway of the Shipwreck Trough in the offshore Otway, was crucial to the Thylacine and Geographe discoveries. Ric has a B.App Sc in Geology (Hons) and is a member of PESA, AAPG and SEAPEX.
Experience
Ric Jason has over 22 years of Geoscience experience in operated exploration and appraisal / development projects and has been focussed on global new ventures for the past 10 years. He has worked for BHPBilliton, Origin and OMV as well as a variety of other successful companies including Hardman Resources and Cultus Petroleum. Ric has held a number of senior technical, team lead and management positions and has significant experience in various fiscal regimes, new venture evaluations bid submissions, and dealing with various government agencies. He has maintained a strong technical focus with proficiency in most of the current contemporary seismic interpretation software platforms. He also has significant experience with the design, preparation and planning (including HSE auditing) of offshore 3D seismic surveys.
